UK's Largest Awarding Body

The British Standard of Excellence — Flexible for Every Learner

Pearson Edexcel is the UK's largest examination board, trusted by thousands of schools and universities worldwide. Their International GCSEs and A-Levels carry the same weight as Cambridge qualifications — and in many cases offer a more modular, staged assessment approach that suits homeschool and tuition students perfectly.

At Brookwood, we offer Pearson alongside Cambridge because families deserve choice. Whether you're drawn to modular exams, a more accessible question style, or the specific Pearson subject range — we deliver it as a full-time homeschool programme or targeted per-subject tuition.

Cambridge vs Pearson — What's the Real Difference?

🎯 Same Recognition — Different Approach

Both boards are equally accepted by universities in Kenya, the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, and worldwide. The key distinction is assessment structure: Cambridge is primarily linear (all exams at the end), while Pearson offers modular options that let students bank results as they progress — reducing end-of-year pressure significantly.

📦
Pearson — Modular Option

Sit AS exams partway through, with those results contributing to the final A-Level grade. Less all-or-nothing pressure at the end.

📋
Linear (Cambridge-style)

All exams at the end of the course. Full breadth tested in one sitting — suits students who prefer to mature fully before examining.

Programmes Available at Brookwood

International GCSE — iGCSE (Ages 14–16)

Equivalent to Cambridge IGCSE. Students take 7–9 subjects, graded 9–1 (new system) or A*–G. Same university recognition — Pearson's question style tends to be more application-focused, which many students find more engaging than rote recall.

International A-Level (Ages 16–19)

A two-year programme in 3–4 specialist subjects. Pearson A-Levels offer the modular AS + A2 pathway, letting students lock in partial results before the final year. Ideal for homeschool and tuition students who benefit from steady, staged milestones rather than one high-stakes endpoint.
